Some quotes I like from a man I like

"You don't have a soul. You are a Soul. You have a body."

"This year, or this month, or, more likely, this very day, we have failed to practice ourselves the kind of behavior we expect from other people."

“One of the things that distinguishes man from the other animals is that he wants to know things, wants to find out what reality is like, simply for the sake of knowing. When that desire is completely quenched in anyone, I think he has become something less than human.”

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything, and your heart will certainly be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact, you must give your heart to no one, not even to an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket- safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable."

-C.S. Lewis

Honestly, I just think he was a smart man. As a Christian, I feel like he has taught me a lot about the relationship between faith and reason. However, I feel like most anything he wrote (outside of the Narnia books) would be a great read for anyone. I think he comes at religion from a pretty interesting perspective. Not that I take his word as truth or agree with every single thing he has to say, but I don't agree with EVERYTHING anyone says.

On a different note: all I really want to do is sing background harmonies for the rest of my life. Why is that so much to ask?????????
